Dear Maria

You mean so much to me,
but saying, “I love you,”
with unadulterated feeling,
with emotion that swirls and
swirls, creates whirlwinds of
august red, and finds
itself exhaled through
an adagio of syllables—
embodying genuine kindness
like the sea in a paperweight,
freed, enveloping and
embracing you in a blue
andante, thanking you
for each taper you lit, when
I meandered knock-kneed in
the dark is just a step towards
change, it’s the action, the
brisk allegro of not only
holding your arms, suddenly
and rapidly, making you erupt
in laughter and delight, a
golden glow highlighting
the contours of your face,
but also, the coda – the
combination of the little things
I’m working on doing, to
complete each day’s passage,
to enhance each hour’s beauty,
to transform each minute’s ephemerality
into seconds transfigured, that
makes us, and creates this bond
that no woman before or after you
will give me.

  1. Absolutely stunning!

    “emotion that swirls and
    swirls, creates whirlwinds of
    august red”

    “embodying genuine kindness
like the sea in a paperweight,
    freed, enveloping and
    embracing you in a blue
    andante, ”

    Wow. Just wow.

  2. What a gorgeous piece, Nitin. They’re such hard to pin down experiences that you’ve found words for and I love how you do that!
Speaking of images, that picture is beautiful too!

    1. Thank you very much. I try my best to pin experience, ideas and emotion down, and I’m glad you liked it. The picture isn’t mine, and I was in two minds whether to use it or not, and I’m glad I did now. Thanks again. Your words mean a lot.
